Kyril Buhowski is an artist and author who works in the areas of painting, installation, performance, and creative writing. In his practice he explores the subjects of memory, resilience, structures of power, identities, and the creation of narratives.

After studying at the National School of Fine Arts and at the National Academy of Art in Sofia, he moved to London, where he studied at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. He spent five years in the UK, directing plays in fringe theatres in London and working as an assistant to a contemporary visual artist. In 2023 he moved back to Bulgaria and became an active participant in the visual art scene.

Buhowski has a diverse visual vocabulary that he uses depending on the theme he investigates. Whether a large-scale painting with luminous colours, an elaborate installation that combines contrasting materials, or an intricate text art that unfolds into an unexpected narrative, his work is an attempt to find answers to meaningful questions.
